HPCS Laboratory

About

The High Performance Computing System (HPCS) Laboratory at the University of Tsukuba works on high performance computing across the whole range of parallel systems, from massively parallel supercomputers to commodity clusters. Our research covers:

  • High performance computing and performance evaluation on a variety of parallel processing systems
  • Computer architecture , from processors through to interconnection networks
  • Architectures for high performance computing such as GPUs , many-core processors and FPGAs
  • High performance parallel compilers
  • Large-scale data processing (big data) technologies
  • Storage technologies and system software that underpin large-scale computer systems
  • High performance numerical computation on large-scale computer systems
  • Integration of large-scale computer systems with quantum computers and the software that supports it (HPC-QC)

In particular, we make active use of the big-memory supercomputer Pegasus and the unified-memory supercomputer Sirius operated by the Center for Computational Sciences at the University of Tsukuba, as well as Miyabi at the Joint Center for Advanced High Performance Computing (JCAHPC). Using these large-scale parallel systems we collaborate closely with a wide range of computational science application fields, and pursue high performance computing that is useful in the real world through parallel languages, libraries, algorithms and much more.
